Internship in the climate and energy sector in Brussels (Belgium)

The Council of European Municipalities and Regions (CEMR) is the broadest organisation of local and regional authorities in Europe. Its members are over 50 national associations of municipalities and regions from 41 European countries. Together these associations represent some 150 000 local and regional authorities.

The field to work in covers the following topics:
- Review of the EU Energy Union package and its directives on energy efficiency, energy performance in buildings and renewable energies
- Negotiations at international level on climate change
- Preparation of the Climate Chance Summit in September for Non – Party stakeholdersContacts with - European and International networks specialized in this field
- Monitoring climate and energy legislation at EU level mainly
- Contacts with the EU Institutions
- Links to project work in the climate and energy field
- Production of the Green Update (twice per month)
- Participation to conferences in Brussels on climate and energy
- Preparation and participation to CEMR Expert Group on climate and energy
- Contacts with local and regional authorities
- Administration work as needed

Profile of the person expected:
Climate/energy/local authority background desirable but not obligatory, dynamic, proactive, team spirit, willing to learn, autonoumous.

Internships are unpaid, should be at least 3 months long (up to 6 months), and must be part of your studies through a signed contract with your university.

CEMR’s objectives are twofold: to influence European legislation on behalf of local and regional authorities and to provide a platform for exchange between its member associations and their elected officials and experts.
